When we think about accomplishing something, our brains present failure as the most obvious outcome. This idea of failure is a cloud that sits in front of success. Success being the expected outcome, or more likely, an outcome that teaches us about what we should actually strive for. Regardless, it is hidden from view by the fog bank of failure. We must enter the fog bank and trust our intuition, skills, and resilience.
I had this thought come up when skateboarding yesterday. I was under the bridge, skating the curb next to the quarter. The curb was dry, I was trying switch slappy, fakie flip out. I would get close, but I needed to adjust the way I was leaning. Too far back, and I couldn't flip the board under me. Too far forward, and my truck would hit dry concrete and send me flying on to the ground. I tried this for 30 minutes, and walked away without the trick. The failure represented effort from which I take my lesson and reset for next time.
